Wide Shoes, in Welling was purpose built as a shoe shop in 1954. It was previously owned by another father and son team. Ray Bowles took over the business in 1980 and after retiring in 2011, his son Steve took over the running of the shop. Steve’s wife Maxine also works in the shop on a part-time basis, with two other specialist trained knowledgeable members of staff.
We are a specialist wide fitting shoe store often recommended by podiatrists, chiropodists and hospitals. Many of our customers have conditions such as diabetes, oedema, arthritis, prosthetic limbs and many other medical conditions, as well as those people that just have slightly wider than average feet.
We stock and order various styles and designs in comfortable widths starting from an E fitting up to extra wide variable fittings for ladies and gentlemen. Many of our shoes and slippers have multiple fitting options to accommodate orthotics and braces. All our shoes are of a high quality and in up to date styles and colours.
